Who am I?!
Well if you weren’t sure already, my name is Lindsay; but a lot of people call me “Linds” - hence “Lift with Lindz”! I have officially been a personal trainer since 2022 and have worked in a gym setting since 2021. Since then I have worked 1,500+ session hours with clients. I have immersed myself in the gym space as an athlete and bodybuilder since 2016.
Currently I am a competitive body building athlete. I have been competing and training for body building shows since 2022. In that time i’ve been in three shows, with a first place finish in two out of the three.
The preparation for a show is a long and difficult process of dedication to diet and consistency in the gym, and has taught me a lot about how to achieve real results when it comes to losing weight and gaining muscle.
How did I get into Personal training and Fitness coaching?
My intro to “fitness” would have been when I was very young. I started being consistently active doing cross country, basketball and track from the time I was 12 to 18. At 16 my basketball team was required to participate in a few sessions of strength training before practice…this is where I realized how much I HATED feeling weak. My competitive spirit started to come out when I realized I couldn’t keep up with the same weights as some of the other girls. This is when I first started dipping my toe into going to the gym on my own time, but as a young girl still in high school, strength training wasn’t my priority yet.
Fast forward a couple years - I went to college straight out of high-school to continue my career as a runner. I spent four years at a small university in Portland called Warner Pacific University, running cross country and track. This is when my love for running shifted into a love for movement and fitness. During this time I got much more serious about strength training and found joy in moving heavy weight. By my sophomore year of college I was consistenly going to the school gym on my own to get an extra workout in after my cross country and track practices.
After graduating from college in 2021, I continued to prioritize strength training and started working with a body building coach.
Since then i’ve competed in three body building shows; winning two of them, and competitively placing in the other! As a woman, body building has given me a way to express my femininity in a space that is inherently masculine; and this has caused me to fully commit myself to strength training and now fuels my passion for my work as a personal trainer and coach.
